Week 5 already! This weeks prompt from Tara at Sticky Fingers is Outside My Front Door.
My first thought was to post the image which I recently discovered of outside our house on Google street maps. If you haven’t looked your house up yet, go and have a look. Quite funny, we had a load of stuff sat on the drive waiting to go the the tip, and when I looked at Mum & Dad’s house, my Dad was washing the car.
But, that wouldn’t have been an image I’d taken so here is what is on our door step. We live on a newish estate, which is the site of an old colliery. Lovely you may think. However, it has been beautifully landscaped and we go on a walk with the baby and dog daily.
Take a look at a previous post Seasons to see some Autumn/Winter versions of the same views. I plan to do the same in a couple of weeks for Spring.

In searching for an image of what used to be on the site, I came across the picture below taken by Nigel Harris in 1982. After gaining his permission I’m delighted to be able to show what the history of the area that we live is made from. St Helens is an ex-mining town, with many large collieries now closed. It’s hard to believe that the image below is only from 1982, with the atmosphere the steam creates, and the old steam engines. Click here for more information on why the picture was taken.
