Is this the smallest sunflower you’ve ever seen?

No laughing!

We started off really well with Nurture Stores sunflower club, we even won the seeds.

We planted the seeds.

The seedlings sprouted quickly,

and were very healthy specimens.

The suspense must be killing you – what did we get…

It’s really rather pathetic isn’t it?

That isn’t the worst though, look at the ones that didn’t make it:

We do have another which is ‘about’ to bloom, I’m sure:

If it isn’t eaten alive, first.

Then as if the mocking from Nurture Store on Twitter today, about her Jack and The Beanstalk sunflowers, wasn’t bad enough. I also have this laughing at me from my neighbour’s garden. A case of here’s what you could have won, eh?

@cosmicgirlie Pretty pathetic! I can’t tell you how I nurtured those babies, I am not green fingered.

I gotta confess…my mouth fell open in shock at the size of it.

And then I may have laughed a little. It’s..um…pretty?

Awww, it is such a shame but also so cute! My niece has just asked for seeds and ‘gardening stuff’ for her sixth birthday next week. She has some sun flowers already, they also started fast and have done quite well, not like that giant one tho!

Sorry, it did make me smile but …..my mother keeps planting things for us like lettace….then a week later just before she arrives I remember that we haven’t watered anything since she was last here….I am a terrible gardener!! Hence our crops aren’t doing very well. x

Ahh, what a shame! It may be small but it's still so pretty. Last year all our sunflowers were eaten by slugs and we were so disappointed. This year however…! We have a great sunflower craft on the way for the Sunflower Club so hope you'll pop over to see it.

Oh it is such a relief to know that we are not alone! Ours are even smaller than yours and only one has survived being eaten alive by slugs and other bugs. I might even take a picture of it now!!
