Christmas is approaching, there is no denying it. How do I know? The Argos catalogue has become well thumbed by list writing six year old, the Coca Cola advert was on TV, prime time Saturday night & yesterday I bribed my kids to take the now obligatory photographs for this years Christmas card.
I love Christmas day, the expectations & excitement of the children, a scrumptious lunch, visiting relatives & then just relaxing and playing with all the toys.
What I don’t savour quite as much is the build up, getting everything ready, trying to choose something meaningful & appropriate for nephews, in-laws, parents & friends. I would often try and make something for everyone, but I admitted defeat and acknowledged being time poor a couple of years ago.
I think seven years ago was the Christmas I bought everything from the Internet. This method of shopping really comes into it’s own at Christmas – especially when you are are heavily pregnant. I’ve continued to let it take the brunt of the shopping burden ever since. Shop at your leisure from the comfort of your own home & make sure you have lovely neighbours who will always take in a parcel or two when you nip out for 5 minutes & all the deliveries arrive the instant you drive round the corner.
I’ve found shopping for kids toys much easier by using the internet, you can search by age range, see honest reviews, get best prices from a range of shops & have everything delivered in one go.
I also love Etsy to find personal gifts for female friends & family I need presents for.
However, there are still the difficult ones to buy for – the three brother-in-laws. If anyone has a fool proof site which sells gifts for men who have everything, then I’d love to hear from you.
Are you a keyboard shopper or do you feel like you’ve achieved nothing unless you’ve been late night shopping when the Christmas lights have been switched on?
