Half-term film favourite – Dolphin Tale

How quickly has half-term come around? We’ve got there a day earlier than expected with 7YO being off school sick today. I’m not sure school believed we weren’t jetting off somewhere, as the secretary grilled me about what was wrong with her and then phoned back an hour later asking why she wasn’t in school :-/

We have however taken advantage of the duvet day and watched for the third time this week a fantastic film new out just in time for half-term Dolphin Talefrom Warner Brothers.

It’s a wonderful film, based on the true story of Winter the dolphin who is the absolute star of the film. It’s an amazing tale of survival and love of the dolphin found stranded on the beach caught up in fishing tackle. Be warned it’s a tearjerker, even my husband had leaky eyes (but don’t tell him I told you).

Dolphin Tale, Film review, family film, family review, half term

It was enjoyed just as much by my 7 year old daughter as my 2 year old son. It really held his attention which surprised me, but he is a ‘bit’ dolphin mad and had watched the Dolphin Tale trailer on a loop when the film was on cinema release. Take a look at why it’s such a special film and why we give it a big thumbs up.

After he’d watched it for the first time I found him re-enacting parts of the film and chatting to his dolphin. I was very proud that I overlooked all the water everywhere and appreciated the scene for the fun that it was to him.

Disclosure: We were sent a copy of the DVD for review by Warner Bros
